A federal court in Texas blocked the 2024 attempt to classify forced-reset triggers as machine guns, and the Department of Justice has since agreed to return previously seized units. That ruling means T.A.R.S. triggers that meet the court-approved design—like ours—remain legal at the federal level. Always check your state and local laws before purchasing.
T.A.R.S. is a true drop-in for most stamped or milled AK-47/AKM receivers in 7.62×39, 5.45×39, or 5.56×45. It also runs reliably in popular U.S.-made variants (e.g., PSA, Zastava, Century Arms and Riley Defense) that use standard AK fire-control pin geometry. No special bolts, carriers, or springs required.
If you can swap a standard AK trigger group, you can install T.A.R.S. in about ten minutes:
• Remove safety lever and two FCG pins
• Drop in the self-contained T.A.R.S. cassette
• Re-insert pins and safety, function-check, and you’re done.
• No permanent mods, drilling, or shims—just simple tools and the rifle you already own.
• Minor adjustments may be required for proper fitment.
Shooters report a crisp 3.5–4 lb break and an ultra-short ~0.05″ reset—about one-third the travel of a stock AK trigger. The result: noticeably faster split times and tighter follow-up groups without sacrificing reliability.
